Gareth Woods

Gareth Woods joined us on a chilly but sunny day in December and seranaded us with his wonderful music. What a wonderful day and what beautiful music it was. Below is some bio information.

I grew up in Ireland. I moved to Chicago at age 23, having flipped a coin outside a travel agents in Dublin. My cousin and I had decided to hit the states in the summer of ’95 but we forgot to discuss to which city. Heads for New York, tails for Chicago, the coin landed on tails. We didn’t care since we had no clue really about the differences, that’s how green we were! I gave my first performances on the subways of Chicago and soon landed a gig at the Abbey Pub on Chicago’s north side. It wasn’t long before I was a regular on the circuit playing 3 to 5 nights a week. A good life.. for a 23 year old!
It’s been 14 years since that summer and during that time I’ve been a waiter, barman, worked for a design firm, sold real estate, sold advertising TVs, worked for a Credit card processing Co. to mention but a few, but always, first and foremost I’ve been a musician. It’s part of me, as undeniable as my nose! This website is dedicated to that part of me, my music. I hope you like it and if you come to see me play don’t forget to come up and say hi,
