Chicago Acoustic Underground

ABOUT US

Chicago Acoustic Underground is an original music podcast series, featuring over 400 acoustic artists and full electric bands from Chicago, the region, the nation and the world. For over five years, CAU podcasts have featured the best original singer-songwriters and bands, who showcase their music with live performances and in-depth interviews in an intimate setting. CAU podcasts are downloaded in over 40 countries.

The CAU Studio is located near Armitage & Halsted in Chicago. Tucked away humbly in this Chicago neighborhood is the hub of CAU: a music machine that supports original artists to reach new fans and heights.

Host Michael Teach has worked throughout the nation and the world with touring bands and has earned kudos presenting artists ranging from Harry Chapin and B.B. King to Hank Williams, Jr. in his vast industry experience. His passion for original music is unsurpassed, and the entire CAU team is boldly pushing forward to create opportunities for original musicians at every level.

CAU podcasts are for you and fans worldwide to enjoy: Podcasts can be downloaded, 100% free, including pictures, interviews and songs. Genres include but are not limited to: folk, rock, pop, jazz, blues, world, alternative, country, alt-country, Americana and much much more.

In addition, CAU has a "sister label" named CAUDog Records offering full-length albums for some of the best "hidden gem" bands and artists in Chicago and the world. (www.caudogrecords.com). CAUDog Records is the namesake of Buffy. If you don't know Buffy now, you will be glad when you do.

    CAU HISTORY

CAU was started in 2006 by Jacob Covington, Engineer Michael Narvaez and Host Michael Teach as an online stage, open 24/7, where original music has the spotlight. This "stage", also known as the CAU website, is active in over 40 countries and offers free downloads of original music, photos and interviews. Started in Chicago, IL USA, the three founders saw the need for singer-songwriters to find a listening audience. This started with website development, a whole lot of server space, and a growing audience of listeners, fans and artists. CAU is expanding with live sound, mobile recording, HD video, album production, promotion, booking, artist development and more.

    STAFF

As a staff and team of original musicians, we know the ropes of the business from many angles whether it's sound engineering, marketing, songwriting (does anything rhyme with orange?), instrument repair, performance jitters, lodging, regional tours, local shows, press releases, Facebook and Twitter to name a few. We know how demanding it is to wear your heart on your sleeve, and wear many hats, as an independent musician. We are here to offer active musicians access to the engaged fans we've cultivated over five years of amazing original music.
