Chicago Acoustic Underground (CAU) is an original music podcast, which presents over 500 podcast shows at, where listeners in over forty countries have downloaded almost 100 terrabytes to date. Locally, CAU is a presenter of live local music showcases, presenting shows at venues including METRO, Bottom Lounge, Beat Kitchen, Subterranean, Heartland Cafe, Double Door as well as organizing music for Bucktown Garden Walk and COFFEECon Consumer Coffee Conference.

In the past year, over 100 local performers have appeared in CAU’s monthly showcase, on First Tuesdays in Act One Pub, called “Singing For Your Supper”. This folk-style showcase, where original songwriters are literally ‘singing for their supper’ by receiving complimentary food and drink from Act One Pub, has built camaraderie among the songwriting community in Chicago.

Mayne Stage: With a nod to the historic past of this grand facility, Mayne Stage features a restaurant (Act One Pub) and performance space that reflects the unique and diverse history of Rogers Park.

The theater, on Morse Avenue at Wayne Avenue, opened as Morse Theater in 1912, a vaudeville and movie house house. In the 1930s, the facility was remodeled using an Art Deco theme and renamed the Co-Ed Theater because of its proximity to Loyola University. The Co-Ed closed in 1954, and from 1956 until 2008 the building served in various capacities from synagogue to a shoe repair store.

Now, with a recent multi-million dollar restoration and renovation project, the entertainment and dining venue is poised to be a magnet for significant development in this north-side neighborhood. In addition to live performance, and utilizing its state-of-the-art audio and video systems, the venue offers space for studio recordings, rehearsals, educational programs, corporate events and private parties.
