Concierto Guadalupano · Hosted by Sones de Mexico Ensemble and St. Procopius Church
|Date & Time:||Sun, 12/08/2019 - 7:00pm - 8:00pm|
In Mexico, the pilgrimages and the tradition of singing and dancing to the Virgin of Tepeyac (aka Our Lady of Guadalupe) transcends religion; it is a symbol of Mexican Culture that predates Christianity and dates back to the worship of mother goddess Tonantzin. The concert will include a selection of Aztec dances, Catholic chants, and Regional “rancheras” and “son jarocho” observant of the holiday. This is a once-a-year opportunity to hear the ensemble perform this material. Our special guest is Irekani Ferreyra of the group Son Monarcas.
Free and open to the public.
