"Morgan Geer is the real thing - a songwriter with a heart as deep as the Marianas Trench and sensitive as the wet hands of a raccoon." (Rennie Sparks, The Handsome Family)
Likely brings to mind The Band for a lot of listeners, with a sense of history and tradition - but Morgan Geer’s songs and singing often suggest a kinship with artists like Bobby Charles or Doug Sahm - musicians with Southern roots, with a yip and break to their voices, and notes of sadness offset by a sense of humor.
The new Drunken Prayer album, Cordelia Elsewhere, was mixed by MITCH EASTER (REM, Let’s Active), at Fidelitorium in rural North Carolina. An eccentric descendant of outlaw country, these songs bare witness to life on earth in uncertain times.
"[Cordelia Elsewhwere] is the best thing Drunken Prayer has ever done. Emotional work songs for dark days. Songs to sing along to as you dig your own grave." (American Standard Time)
Over the past two years, Morgan has played hundreds of shows across 18 countries and 15 US states in venues like the Pickathon Music Festival and San Francisco's Great American Music Hall, and his music has been featured on AMC, NPR, WFMU and SiriusXM.
