The Artist

John Kocher

Growing up wasn’t always easy for John Kocher: Dealing with living in a divided household, having very few friends, and being bullied frequently at school forced John to look in a new direction for support. Music quickly became the healing force that he was looking for and it definitely made him feel like “someone” for the first time in his life.

College was the time where John truly discovered himself as an artist as he began composing songs of his own. Over the course of his college years and the years that followed John wrote a number of songs that would eventually be featured on both of his independent releases. After dabbling in the “band” scene, he decided the best route was to go it alone and experience life as a solo artist. John performed throughout the Metro-Milwaukee area for a number of years as well as in Chicago on a few occasions.

John continues to write, record, and perform his emotive music. In the last few years he has been privileged to appear live on public television/local radio, release two albums independently (Halfway Home and Change), and perform at Summerfest. John is definitely on his way to finding a successful career in the music business and looks forward to sharing what he has with people who are willing to give him the chance to be heard.
